National Healthy Weight Week

This week is National Healthy Weight Week, and the American Cancer Society is taking the occasion to encourage people to manage their weight by eating healthy foods and exercising, which the group says has the potential to reduce the risk of cancer. The A-C-S estimates that a third of cancer deaths are linked to obesity. About one thousand die from cancer in Wyoming each year, and it's estimated that about 25-percent of Wyomingites are obese. The A-C-S says obesity is directly linked to risks of twelve cancers, including breast and colon cancer. The American Cancer Society has resources to help people stay healthy, available online at Cancer.org (or by phone at 1-800-227-2345).
