Wyoming says the second season of its boat inspection program aimed at stopping the possible spread of invasive mussels appears to be a success. Exotic mussels already have infected the waters of many Western states. Wyoming two years ago created a boat inspection program to keep them from getting established in the state. From May through mid-September, Wyoming conducted nearly 43,000 watercraft inspections at 33 different waters throughout the state. Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator Beth Bear says most were standard inspections. The state performed 14 boat decontaminations and found no live invasive mussels.
