A nonprofit that helps people with mental and physical disabilities has taken over a recycling program in Cheyenne that serves people living outside the city. Magic City Enterprises will oversee the bins positioned around Cheyenne where Laramie County residents can take recyclable materials. Cheyenne offers curbside pickup for city residents.
Two bin locations are being dropped but four others will be retained. Bins are also stationed at a Magic City facility. Cheyenne officials say the program was costing the city more than $170,000 a year. Magic City Enterprises CEO Laura McKinney says she believes her organization can make a profit of about $70,000 annually through efficiencies. She says the money will be used to expand the operation and support other programs.
