The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kemmerer Field Office (KFO) is urging the public to use caution on roads crossing public land.
A recent incident south of Underwood Canyon Road, 20 miles northwest of Kemmerer, involved a vehicle sliding down a hill into a gully because the two-track had washed out several years ago.
“The winter snowpack and spring runoff can change road conditions dramatically from year to year,” states KFO Outdoor Recreation Planner, Wally Mierzejewski. He adds, “Be aware of your surroundings, proceed cautiously and turn around if in doubt about a road’s stability or safety.”
As a reminder, motorized vehicle use on public land is limited to existing roads and two-tracks. Off-road, cross country travel by motorized means is not allowed.
