17 Year Old Casper Man Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter

A 17-year-old Casper resident stood in court Thursday and admitted to inadvertently shooting his sleeping friend with a pistol they had stolen out of a car the previous night. The Billings Gazette reports that Matthew Dean Campbell pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and aggravated burglary. In exchange for the pleas, prosecutors agreed to seek no more than 15 years behind bars at Campbell's sentencing in coming weeks. Campbell killed 16 year old Kraig Brusaw as he was sleeping. The gun had been stolen by Brusaw and Campbell earlier. Campbell says the gun accidently discharged when he brought it out to show a group of friends. He remains in custody on a $50,000 bond while awaiting sentencing.
