The National Weather Service posted red flag warnings for much of the state on Thursday. The agency says a dry airmass is bringing warm temperatures, low humidity and wind - a combination that means ideal conditions for wildfires to spread. So far this week, most of the state has enjoyed some relief from wildfire activity. While wildfires were started, they didn't grow as quickly as they did in June and earlier this month. State Forester Bill Crapser says slightly higher humidity makes a huge difference in wildfire behavior. Fires don't burn as hot, which helps firefighters put out spot wildfires faster.
