Info Sought in Alvarado Death

Authorities are asking for information that will help solve the killing of a 17-year-old former Pomona resident whose body was discovered Aug. 19 in a shallow grave near Rock Springs, Wyoming.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in the death of Rigoberto Alvarado Jr.
Alvarado, who was known as "Junior" or "Rigo" to his friends, attended high school in Rock Springs. Authorities said he was new to the area.
On July 29, he left the family's apartment on west Rock Springs around 8:30 p.m. He didn't return home.
His father reported him missing to the Rock Springs Police Department the next day.
A group exploring the remains of long-abandoned coal camps and coal mining operations outside Rock Springs came upon the body Aug. 19 and notified authorities, according to Sweetwater County Sheriff Rich Haskell in a statement.
Wyoming officials said an autopsy identified the body as Alvarado and the death determined to be a homicide.
