The Rock Springs Wild Horse Holding Facility will hold a reopening and expanded adoption event at the end of this month. Serena Baker with the Bureau of Land Management says the facility had been closed since October so all animals received from the range could be evaluated by a vet and given tests and shots.
On Saturday, Jan. 26 from 8 a.m.-noon, the HDD kicks off the first wild horse adoption of the year.
As part of the event, area fourth graders will have until this Friday to enter their original drawings of a wild horse to the BLM Office located at 280 Hwy 191 N. in Rock Springs by Friday, Jan. 11th. All entries will be displayed in the lobby and the public is encouraged to vote for their favorite. Donated prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third prize to the drawings receiving the highest number of votes.
