Sweetwater Bomb Squad Investigating Source of Explosives Device

The Sweetwater Bomb Squad is investigating the circumstances behind an explosives device found in Rock Springs on Thursday evening. Sweetwater County Detective Dick Blust, Jr. says that the device is called a perforating gun, a metal tube about 10 feet long and several inches wide.

The Bomb Squad confirmed that the device was a live perforating gun and transported it to the Squad’s explosives magazine, where it was safely secured.

The Sweetwater Bomb Squad is comprised of law enforcement officers of the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office and the Rock Springs and Green River Police Departments. They are working to determine the device’s origin.
