Wyoming Army National Guard unit to deploy this month

The Wyoming Army National Guard unit will be deployed this month for a stint in the Persian Gulf region. The Guard says 162 soldiers from the Laramie-based 133rd Engineer Company will deploy on April 12. The unit will be deployed for 400 days and provide base security in Bahrain. It will spend more than a month of training at Camp Shelby, Miss., followed by nine months in Bahrain. The unit's soldiers are from throughout Wyoming as well as Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nebraska and Utah. Lt. Col. Joseph Huss of the Wyoming Army National Guard says this is the first non-engineering deployment in the unit's history. The 133rd company was last deployed in November 2004 to Iraq to perform engineering missions.
