A judge has given both parties in a lawsuit arguing the appointment of Sweetwater County Commissioner Don Van Matre was illegal a deadline to schedule a hearing. The plaintiffs and defendants have until today to meet the deadline. Challengers say they believe the decision was made in secret in violation of Wyoming open meetings law. They are not attempting to remove Van Matre from office, but want a ruling declaring their actions were illegal Chief Deputy Sweetwater County Attorney John Prokos says the defendants believe the court has heard all the evidence. An attorney for Van Matre could not be reached for comment.
