Rawlins Bans Feeding of Wildlife

Rawlins has banned feeding wildlife after a rash of confrontations and accidents involving deer. The City Council approved an ordinance on Tuesday that sets a $45 fine for the first offense and $90 for the second. The ordinance also bans feeding pronghorn, elk, moose, turkeys, ducks, geese, pigeons, coyotes, bears, wolves, foxes, raccoons and skunks. Mule deer have been the main focus of the debate. Bird feeders are exempt. Police Chief Mike Reed says enforcement will be gradual.
