Rock Springs Creeks Still Exceed Limits Enivironmentally

Levels of E. coli bacteria and salt in two Rock Springs-area creeks were lower this year than the two previous years but still exceed federal maximums. Bitter Creek exceeded E. coli and salt levels at some spots from the Green River to Killpecker Creek. Killpecker Creek exceeded E. coli levels at some spots near Rock Springs. The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality will establish new pollution maximums for parts of the two streams it deems impaired. David Waterstreet, the director of the department's watershed protection program, says nearly all the remedial actions that could be taken are voluntary.
