The Associated Press is seeking to intervene in a pending death penalty case in Wyoming to oppose a lawyer's request to seal court records. The AP, a cooperative that serves news organizations in Wyoming and around the world, filed papers Wednesday in Laramie County District Court asking to intervene in the case against Nathaniel Castellanos of Cheyenne. Prosecutor Mike Blonigen filed notice last week he intends to seek the death penalty against Castellanos. Defense lawyer Robert Rose has asked District Judge Peter Arnold to seal Blonigen's death penalty notice and other case records. Castellanos has pleaded not guilty in the fatal shootings last August of 21-year-old Corey A. Walker and 25-year-old Megan L. McIntosh, both of Cheyenne. He pleaded not guilty to attempted murder in the shooting of another woman.
