The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kemmerer Field Office (KFO) is seeking public comment on a proposed 3D geophysical exploration project and will hold a public scoping meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lyman Town Hall, 100 E. Sage St., Lyman, Wyo.
The project proponent will use vibroseis and shot hole methodologies in an area comprised of approximately 96,812 acres, or 151 square miles, of BLM, Forest Service and private lands one mile southeast from the town of Mountain View in Uinta County, Wyo. If approved, operations would begin in late summer 2012 and would be completed within an estimated 10 to 12 weeks. An environmental assessment (EA) will be prepared by the BLM to analyze the effects of this proposed project. Public comment is being sought to help identify potential issues, concerns, ideas and alternatives to be addressed in the EA.
