Schools in the area are encouraging students in grades kindergarten through 12th to particpate in the Young Authors Program contest. Tammy Macy with Sweetwater County School District No. 1 says that even though the contest is not a part of mandatory curriculum, it is an excellent opportunity for students to get their imagination into book form.
All submissions should be in a book form and no larger than 9x12 inches. All entries should have a front cover with a title and book cover, which is not part of the text. Most importantly, a Young Author entry form must accompany the submission.
Entries should be turned into their classroom teacher by February 17th. First- and second-place winners will win $10 and $5 gift certificates, respectively, and will be eligible to compete at the state level.
