Blizzard Warning Issued For Wind River Mountains

A cold front is bringing some snow and strong winds to parts of Wyoming and prompted a blizzard warning in the Wind River Mountains. The National Weather Service in Riverton expected sustained winds in the range to reach 40 mph on Thursday with gusts up to 60 mph. The prevailing winds there usually come from the west but this storm brought winds from the northeast. The weather service says the shift in the winds may have resulted in more damage than winds of the same magnitude from the normal direction. The storm was not expected to bring significant snowfall in most areas.
