Sweetwater County School District No. 2 hosted a public meeting Tuesday to receive comments about the district’s proposed 2012-2013 school calendar.
The district’s calendar committee’s recommended year is proposed to begin Aug. 20, 2012, and end May 22, 2013 but the changes didnt stop at that point. Also recommended were The first semester would end on Dec. 21, just before Christmas vacation, and the year would have five early-out days to facilitate staff development. Teachers in attendance also voiced concerns about the summer heat and reduction in summer vacation -- claiming some parents would take their children out of class during that first week to go on vacation.
