Bill That Would Have Raised Speed Limit to 80 MPH Dies In Committee

A bill that would have allowed Wyoming transportation officials to raise the speed limit on certain highways to 80 mph has hit the brakes in a Senate committee. The Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Committee rejected House Bill 48 on Friday when it failed to produce a second on a motion to send the bill to the Senate floor. The bill would have allowed officials to increase the speed limit from 75 mph to 80 mph on stretches of roadway they deemed safe and appropriate. The proposal passed the House earlier in the week on a 56 to 1 vote. The Senate panel's decision came after law enforcement officials warned of the dangers of increasing the speed limit.

  1. It's very important to establish the right speed limits because otherwise drivers will get angry....no one loves to go 30mph on a road that allows a higher speed without increasing the danger of accidents.
Such a raise of speed limit will definitely lead to a small number of speeding tickets Toronto because this is a city that has some very stupid speed limits.
But now drivers found a new way to avoid huge fines: specialized lawyers that can dismiss almost any traffic ticket:)
