GR Fireworks

The City of Green River’s night sky is all prepared for the City’s Annual Firework show, scheduled for Wednesday, July 4, 2012, with a 10:00pm introduction.
Green River has invited Utah-based Fireworks West Internationale (FWI) back to the area to present the 20-minute fireworks display. “FWI continues to provide the community with spectacular shows year after year which is why the City agreed
to contract with them again for 2012,” says Green River Mayor Hank Castillon.
This year’s 2012 show hopes to build upon last year’s outstanding array of colorful bursts and loud bangs and for the third consecutive year music will be choreographed to the entire fireworks show. The Radio Network radio station will broadcast the synchronized musical performance to the fireworks display which will be heard on
stations 1490 am or 104.9 pm.It’s nice to have a fireworks show put on for the community, especially when we live in a town where residentsaren’t permitted to do their own fireworks within the city,” says Castillon. With so much national news coverage of the massive wildfires burning in neighboring states such as Colorado and Utah, it has triggered the Green River Fire Department (GRFD) to once-again alert residents of the Section 12-2 Ordinance of the Green River Code.“This ordinance states that it is unlawful for any person to throw, cast, set-off, or discharge any firework within
the City limits,” says Lisa Botham, GRFD Public Information Officer, “and violators could face up to a $750.00 fine and up to 6 months in jail.” Botham says that the current dry conditions make the use of fireworks undoubtedly dangerous this year. The GRFD will be on stand-by to respond to all calls, including firework related incidents or injuries. Botham reminds citizens to dial 911 for any emergency.
