Federal agency turns over bison hazing documents

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has turned over its analysis on the effects of bison hazing on grizzly bears after conservationists sued for the information. Alliance for the Wild Rockies sued after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service did not respond to the public-records request made under the federal Freedom of Information Act. In April, the alliance requested the agency's analysis and backing documents on the effects of the annual spring hazing of bison back into Yellowstone National Park on threatened grizzly bears in the area. The alliance filed a lawsuit in May after receiving no response. On Aug. 2, Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Smith filed notice the agency complied with the request. Molloy dismissed the case Monday and awarded the alliance $3,531 in attorney fees and costs.
