Riverton man pleads guilty to tax evasion

A 55-year-old Riverton man has pleaded guilty to tax evasion after failing to pay nearly $400,000 to the Internal Revenue Service. Court documents say Gerald E. Anderson Jr. faces up to five years in prison after entering his plea this week as part of a deal with prosecutors. Authorities say Anderson attempted to hide his income from the IRS for five years beginning in 2005. Anderson is set to be sentenced Oct. 7 by Chief U.S. District Judge Nancy Freudenthal. IRS Special Agent Bryan K. Thiel says that Anderson will return to prison, where he is serving a six to 10 year sentence for embezzlement. Anderson's attorney was unavailable for comment.
