An education conference taking place in Cheyenne will feature a discussion about Wyoming's attempt to bring more accountability to its public schools. The School Improvement Conference, which began Monday and continued today has about 700 educators are attending. Today (Tuesday), a panel of state legislators and others were to address new education reform laws passed last winter. The new laws are aimed at improving the performance of Wyoming's public schools, teachers and students. The reform includes setting up a statewide system to measure student academic progress in public schools, imposing consequences on underperforming schools and tying teacher performance to student academic achievement.
