American Eagle Discontinues Flights Between Cheyenne and Dallas Fort Worth

Starting April 3rd, American Eagle Airlines says it will discontinue flights between Cheyenne and Dallas/Fort Worth. One reason for the decision that was announced Tuesday is the rising price of fuel. According to airline regional network manager Gary Foss, fuel prices are more than 50 percent higher than what the airline had projected when it entered the market. It's reported that American has pledged to help customers make other travel arrangements who have tickets for travel after April 2nd. American began flying the Cheyenne-to-Dallas route with two daily flights in 2010. The airline scaled back to one daily flight later that year. More than $1 million a year in state money helped to sustain the flights.
