A 31-year veteran of the Green River Volunteer Fire Department received one of the city’s highest accolades Tuesday evening when he was awarded the key to the city.
Leonard Ortega, who had recently retired from the volunteer service, received the award from Mayor Hank Castillon and the Green River City Council. Also present were Ortega’s family and a number of the firefighters he worked with.
