National High School Rodeo Participants Told To Prepare For Higher Altitude

Organizers of this summer's national high school rodeo in Rock Springs are telling contestants and others to prepare for higher altitude and drier air. Rock Springs is at about 6,300 feet above sea level. High school rodeo participants will be coming from areas where the altitude is less than 1,000 feet and humidity is generally higher. Austin White, of the National High School Rodeo Association in Denver, says the association is preparing a packet that will include information about dealing with the elevation and dry air. It will be sent to the expected participants from 41 states, Canada and Australia. The National High School Finals Rodeo is scheduled for July 9-23 at the Sweetwater County Events Complex.
