Grow a row for your heart

Grow a row for your heart. It's gardening advice being dispensed to Wyomingites just as the growing season is getting underway this month. Mayo Clinic Health System cardiologist Dr. Regis Fernandes describes how home-grown produce benefits heart health.

The American Heart Association recomments planting and tending a garden for the physical activity, which is also good for your heart. Dr. Fernandes says people who regularly eat the recommended eight or more servings of fruits and veggies have lower incidence of heart disease.

He adds that when you grow your own produce, you don't have to worry about extra sugars and sodium often added to packaged or prepared fruits and vegetables.
