The Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office and the Sweetwater County Emergency Management Agency are preparing an operation to recover the body of 43 year old Richard D. Herren in Flaming Gorge. Herren fell out of a boat in the Holmes Crossing area of Flaming Gorger on May 4, 1997. Detective Dick Blust Jr. says Herren's wife, Mary and a family friend were with him at the time.
Herren's family had contacted Ralston who used a specially-equipped boat and side-scan sonar for the search.
Haskell said the Sheriff’s Office is planning and preparing for an operation, tentatively set for June, to recover the body.
Blust says the body is partly covered by silt and will be very fragile. He says they do not want to leave anything to chance or take any avoidable risks.
