Wyoming tourism director anticipates good summer

Wyoming tourism director Diane Shober says she's anticipating a strong summer tourist season in the state despite high gas prices. Tourism is Wyoming's second largest industry, annually generating about $2.8 billion and about 30,000 jobs. While gas prices are high, she says the American public still gets out and travels. Shober says her office is undertaking an advertising campaign now to promote Wyoming to people around the country who will still vacation this year. The state is spending about $7 million this year to advertise Wyoming in markets such as Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Denver and Salt Lake City. Shober says Wyoming isn't advertising in any new markets but is increasing the frequency of its television and other ads in established markets.
