Tanker rig overturns near Granger

What could have been a disastrous hazardous materials spill was avoided last Friday. Sweetwater County Sheriff Detective Dick Blust, Jr. says a semi rig pulling two tanker trailers filled with flammable petroleum condensate overturned.

The driver of the rig, 36-year-old Christopher Harter of Carlin, Nevada, was traveling generally southwest on the road and was negotiating a turn when the truck and tanker trailers left the roadway and turned over.

Green River Fire Departmen personnel at the scene were identified as Assistant Chief Dea Cargile, Captain Mike Nomis and Firefighters Nathan Bloomfield, Jamie Hole, Tom Madura, Austin Rider, and Cliff Walgren. Harter was not cited, and the Sheriff’s Office investigation continues.
