Driver cited after fatal crash on icy, foggy I-80

The Wyoming Highway Patrol has ticketed a California driver over a fatal crash involving multiple semitrailers on Interstate 80 in a dense fog about 15 miles east of Laramie. Troopers say that at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, with black ice forming on the roadway, Harvinder Sidhu of Lathrop was driving a truck that clipped a semitrailer that was slowing because of a separate crash ahead of them. A truck driven by Irakli Metskhvarishvili then struck Sidhu's trailer, causing Sidhu's trailer to roll, and both their vehicles caught fire. Metskhvarishvili, of Bensalem, Pa., died in the fire. Another trailer then struck Sidhu's vehicle. Troopers said Monday that Sidhu was cited with failure to use extreme caution. They say Sidhu was going too fast for conditions.
