Lawmakers Want To Turn Around WY's Dismal Workplace Safety Record

Lawmakers are mulling a bill designed to help turn around the state's dismal workplace safety record. The measure would pay consultants to conduct voluntary inspections while providing $500,000 for matching grants that companies can use to get extra training or safety equipment. The legislation won initial backing yesterday, after lawmakers rejected a measure that would have increased the penalty for safety violations resulting in death.
