Sweetwater hotels see varying impact from rodeo

Managers of the hotels and motels in Rock Springs and Green River have reported varying amounts of impact the National High School Finals Rodeo is making for their summer season. Econo Lodge manager Doug Statz says this year has been much better than the previous two years in large part due to the rodeo, which begins Sunday at the Sweetwater County Events Complex. Trish Gregory, manager for the Oak Tree Inn in Green River, says that rooms which may not fill up this time of year are being taken for the rodeo. Some hotel managers say they still have rooms available while others say they are still relying on normal oil and gas workers for most of their business.
