Firefighters have contained 40 percent of a wildfire in Albany County, and they hope to have full containment by Friday night. About 180 firefighters aided by helicopters and tankers are battling a grass and brush fire that has scorched 2,700 acres by Thursday afternoon about 20 miles southwest of Wheatland. Burnout operations were done Wednesday to protect buildings on one ranch in the area. No structures have been lost. Another fire has started in Teton County near the Teton Science School. That has burned about 200 acres but no structures are threatened. More than half a dozen other fires continue to burn in remote areas of northwest Wyoming. Red flag warnings were posted Thursday for most of the southern half of the state.
