The Wyoming Department of Transportation says there's a new requirement for people who hold commercial driver's licenses in Wyoming. They must now have an active U.S. Department of Transportation medical certificate on file with the department. The document certifies that the driver is physically qualified to operate a commercial vehicle. Previously commercial drivers only were required to keep the certificate in their vehicle. New federal requirements require commercial drivers to have their medical certificates scanned into a national database as part of renewing their licenses. The medical certificates usually are valid for two years, while commercial driver licenses are valid for four years in Wyoming.
