Riverton Man gets 5-10 years in prison for fatal shooting

A 24-year-old man charged in a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in Riverton has been sentenced to five to 10 years in prison. Dustin Dean Nickelson was sentenced Thursday for the Sept. 13 death of 27-year-old Lucas Myhre. Nickelson, who previously pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, says he shot Myhre several times after the man knocked on his door and "came at him." Authorities say Myhre had methamphetamine in his system at the time of his death. Fremont County deputy prosecutor Pat LeBrun said Nickelson did not have to kill Myhre and should face some punishment. Nickelson will get credit for the 231 days he has already served.
