The memory of a bighorn sheep named Bam Bam will live on next week at Sinks Canyon State Park. Bam Bam died of old age last winter. He was the last sheep in a herd that once numbered 150 animals. Bam Bam had a habit that wasn't too endearing to some people. He was known for banging his head into vehicles. His head-butting put large dents in many cars and trucks. On July 20, Sinks Canyon State Park will host the Bam Bam Slam. The daylong event will feature a 5-mile trail race, children's activities, bake sale and a memorial service for Bam Bam. Race proceeds will go toward having Bam Bam stuffed, mounted and put on display in the visitor center along with a diorama about bighorn sheep.
