New state conservationist chosen for Wyoming

Astrid Martinez, a soil scientist with the Wyoming Natural Resources Conservation Service, has been appointed state conservationist for the agency. The agency said Monday Martinez will start her new job on May 6. The conservation service says she is the first woman to hold the position in Wyoming. Martinez has been the state soil scientist in Wyoming for four years. She previously served as acting state conservationist in Arizona. Martinez lives in Casper.
