Update on Fontenelle Fire as of July 11th

There has been no change in the size of the Fontenelle Fire, located about 18 miles west of Big Piney. It has burned 64,083 acres or 100 square miles. However, it is now at 76 percent containment with 667 personnel on the scene. The forecast calls for a Red Flag warning in effect through Wednesday, with chances of scattered dry thunderstorms below 8,500 feet. Portions of the fire above 8,500 feet may experience wetting rains with lightning. All road closures continue to be in effect and extend south from Bare Pass, west to N. Piney Meadows and Tri Basin Divide, south to Cheese Pass, Mount Isabel, and Red Park, east to the junction of LaBarge Creek Road, and north to Bare Pass along the forest boundary. Further closures may be needed to ensure firefighter and public safety. The public is asked to be cautious when driving on the Middle Piney and LaBarge roads between Hwy. 189 to the closure at the forest boundary as there may be fire traffic and limited vision due to smoke.
