The number of people visiting Yellowstone National Park last month increased 6% from June 2011. The park says it recorded 674,498 visitors in June, compared to about 634,000 during the month a year ago. Visitation to the first national park is up overall for the first six months of the year compared to year-ago levels. The park reports 1.04 million recreational visitors from January through June this year, compared to about 942,000 during the same period in 2011. That is about an 11% increase. July is typically the park's peak visitation month, followed by August, June, September, and May.
