Seven rare chickens have disappeared from the Fremont County Fair. The chickens were part of an exhibit by Wind River Healthcare. The health care center's senior citizens had raised the chickens as therapy and considered them pets. The health care center's director reported seeing the chickens at the fair's agriculture center building at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 4, but when he returned Sunday, seven were gone. Fair director Barney Cosner says the agriculture center was supervised by a building superintendent and was locked daily from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. Cosner says the birds are worth more than $1,000. Riverton Police Chief Mike Broadhead says the case is under investigation.
