Leo Roy Brown, the former board president of the Sweetwater County Trap Club, was arrested yesterday on charges that he misappropriated over $20,000 in Trap Club funds.
After completing an extensive review of Trap Club financial records, Detective Jeff Sheaman interviewed 52 year old Brown at the Sheriff’s Office in Rock Springs on March 2nd about numerous check and debit card transactions he’d made involving Trap Club funds.
According to court documents, a dozen such checks and 53 debit card transactions totaled $20,819.18, minus $2,000 Brown paid back to the Trap Club account in 2010.
Larceny by bailee carries a maximum possible penalty of not more than 10 years of imprisonment, a $10,000 fine, or both. The county’s investigation is continuing.
