All 23 Wyoming counties enact fire restrictions

All 23 counties in Wyoming have enacted fire restrictions. Gov. Matt Mead on Friday announced that all counties have put fire restrictions into effect, amounting to a statewide fire ban. Mead thanked all the county commissions in the state for acting to address the state's fire danger. Mead noted that more than 3,000 firefighters were working on Friday to extinguish fires around Wyoming. He says that county restrictions can help to reduce the number of fires caused by people. Wyoming law specifies that the decision to institute a fire ban is made by county commissioners. The state has already implemented fire restrictions at state parks, on state lands and on Game and Fish Department lands.
