An electrical problem is blamed for starting a fire that destroyed the Lander Community Center, a Fremont County landmark. A malfunction in one of the center's front porch lights started the fire on June 28th. Lander city fire administrator Nick Hudson said two firefighters fought the fire from inside the building to try to keep the fire from spreading to the rear of the building. However, he said they had to abandon that plan after ceiling trusses started to give way. No one was injured in the fire and a dog feared lost in the fire ended up surviving. That's because ceiling insulation fell on the table the dog was sleeping under and ended up protecting him.
