Cow Camp Fire Now Burning 1500 Acres

The Cow Camp Fire is now burning 1500 acres. An unoccupied cabin was burned on Tuesday and 10 other structures are now within two miles of the fire. The fire is located five miles southeast of Laramie Peak and 20 miles northwest of Wheatland. It's burning on the Medicine Bow National Forest. The fire is east of Cottonwood Park Road, County Road 71 and south of County Road 716. The North Laramie River Trailhead, northeast of the fire, and the road into the trail are both closed. A Type III Incident Managment Team has been assigned. 120 crew members are on the scene including a Type III helicopter. Air attack was also provided by a Type I airtanker from Jeffco as well as three single-engine airtankers. Lightning on Sunday is suspected to have started the blaze. It is being pushed to the west and there is no containment. Black Mountain Lookout discovered the fire on Monday. The initial focus of fire crews is full suppression.
